Mercy & Daily Life

The baptismal life is lived in thanksgiving for all that Christ has done and continues to do for us. Thus, in our homes, schools, places of employment... among family, friends, community, co-workers... we desire to show the love and mercy of Jesus in our daily life.

1-baptismThis begins in the home. What 'neighbor' is the Christian more equipped to serve than his own family?! Thus, Calvary members live out in daily life our faith and joy in the Gospel of Christ. The Lord grants us daily vocations ("callings") in which we serve those He has given us to fervently love.

That love of our family also extends to our church family. In daily life, we care for one another. From providing a meal, to giving a ride, to aiding in Lutheran School tuition, to simply being there for one another - the Christian faith is lived out in love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Occasionally, we also join in special settings to share Christ's love with one another.

New Member Reception - Each January, we gather to welcome and get to know those who have become members during the previous calendar year.

Member in the Spotlight - Each Spring, we host a light reception to learn more about each other, 'spotlighting' certain members who may have been members 5 years or 55 years, simply giving us all opportunity to be 're-introduced' to one another.

Breakfasts/Potlucks/Dinners - From Sunday School breakfasts to luncheons and potlucks, to a formal Advent Dinner and hymn-sing, spending time together is part of who Calvary is.

The mercy of Calvary also extends to our community, as we seek to serve our neighbor with the love of Christ. Clothing Drives, Lutheran Early Response Teams, support of local food pantries and pro-life pregnancy centers, quilting groups, Ladies' groups, funding of Lutheran assistance organizations... these are all ways in which Calvary members together share the love of Christ with our community.
